Did you know that we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping?(you probably did).If an average life span is 78 years than we spend 26 years asleep, and frankly that's quite a lot. The positions we rest in can be limited to three.
Back position
This position is great for your head, neck, and spine to maintain a neutral position.Back-sleeping also helps prevent wrinkles, because nothing is pushing against your face. It's also advisable to put a pillow under your knees to maintain proper alignment of your back.
Side position
Side-sleeping is great for overall health -- it reduces snoring and keeps your spine elongated.
It's important to use a pillow to keep your head in a neutral position, so your head won't drop and affect your posture. An added bonus is that sleeping on your left side also reduces heartburn pain.
Stomach position
Stomach-sleeping makes it difficult to maintain a neutral position with your spine. What's more, the pose puts pressure on joints and muscles, which can irritate nerves and lead to pain, numbness, and tingling.
Overall experts say it's the least ideal position for a healthy sleep.
In conclusion the back position appears to be the best. But don't stress it,if sleeping on your stomach feels comfortable than let it be.
