SUPERFOODS

Superfoods are a special category of foods found in nature. By definition they are calorie sparse and nutrient dense meaning they pack a lot of punch for their weight as far as goodness goes.

Aloe vera:

borderIt has been deemed a superfood after research studies identifying its seventy-five healing compounds including natural steroids, antibiotic agents, amino acids, minerals and enzymes. Aloe vera has been used since Egyptian times as a skin moisturise, and healer for burns, cuts, bruises, acne and eczema. This is mostly due to the high concentration of natural sulphur (MSM) that it contains. Aloe juices alkalizes the digestive tract preventing over-acidity, a common cause of indigestion, acid reflux, heartburn and ulcers.

You don’t have to run in order to get a runner’s high. All forms of exercise -- from yoga to walking -- can ease depression and anxiety by helping the brain release feel-good chemicals and by giving your body a chance to practise dealing with stress. You can go for a quick walk around the block, take the stairs up and down a few flights, or do some stretching exercises like head rolls and shoulder shrugs.

№1 Meditation

borderMeditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that benefits both your emotional well-being and your overall health. And these benefits don't end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can help carry you more calmly through your day and can even improve certain medical conditions.

•"[M]editation refers to a family of self-regulation practices that focus on training attention and awareness in order to bring mental processes under greater voluntary control and thereby foster general mental well-being and development and/or specific capacities such as calm, clarity, and concentration"Walsh & Shapiro (2006)

The healthiest sleeping position

Did you know that we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping?(you probably did).If an average life span is 78 years than we spend 26 years asleep, and frankly that's quite a lot. The positions we rest in can be limited to three.

Back position
This position is great for your head, neck, and spine to maintain a neutral position.Back-sleeping also helps prevent wrinkles, because nothing is pushing against your face. It's also advisable to put a pillow under your knees to maintain proper alignment of your back.
Side position

Side-sleeping is great for overall health -- it reduces snoring and keeps your spine elongated.
It's important to use a pillow to keep your head in a neutral position, so your head won't drop and affect your posture. An added bonus is that sleeping on your left side also reduces heartburn pain.

Stomach position

Stomach-sleeping makes it difficult to maintain a neutral position with your spine. What's more, the pose puts pressure on joints and muscles, which can irritate nerves and lead to pain, numbness, and tingling.
Overall experts say it's the least ideal position for a healthy sleep.

In conclusion the back position appears to be the best. But don't stress it,if sleeping on your stomach  feels comfortable than let it be.

No Shave November(Movember)

Movember  is an annual one month long event invoking growing facial hair. It's an independent global charity which raises money for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.

HOW IT WORKS
Movember challenges men to grow a moustache for the 30-days of November, thereby changing their appearance and the face of men’s health. In October Mo Bros sign up at Movember.com, and on the 1st of Movember with a clean-shaven face start their Mo growing journey. MOVEMBERSITE

In 2012, over 1.1 million Men and Women around the world joined the movement, raising USD $147.0 million.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

In 2003, two mates Travis Garone and Luke Slattery from Melbourne Australia were having a quiet beer at the Gypsy Bar on Brunswick St, Fitzroy when their conversation turned to recurring fashion trends. They questioned where the Mo had gone and joked about bringing it back.

The two friends decided to talk their mates into growing a Mo. Inspired by a friend’s mother who was fundraising for breast cancer, they decided to make the campaign about men’s health and prostate cancer. They designed rules and guidelines for Movember (which are still in place today) and agreed to charge ten dollars to grow a Mo. Trav designed the first Movember logo, and they sent around an email titled Are you man enough to be my man? They found 30 guys willing to take up the challenge. read more

Bees are awesome!

There are about 20,000 different species of bees in the world. Bees live in colonies and there are three types of bees in each colony.

Worker bees clean the hive, collecting pollen and nectar to feed the colony and they take care of the offspring. The drone’s only job is to mate with the queen (wow). The queen’s only job is to lay eggs.

 Did you know?

  • It is the only insect that produces food eaten by man.
  • Pure honey hasn't got an expiration date.
  • Honey bees are assigned jobs based on their age.
  • Only worker bees sting!
coolImgBrdHoney collection is an ancient activity. Humans apparently began hunting for honey at least 8,000 years ago.
(for evidence Wikipedia gives a picture of an ancient painting on rock that shows this  -->
